My Experiences With Modafinil – Effects on Creativity and Focus

By on May 18, 2014

I discuss the pros and cons of Modafinil and how these kinds of supplements affect creativity versus focus.

I took this originally for the purpose of an article and found myself using it a few more times to help with late-night app work and pumping out lots of writing. It was only then I realised it would be easy to become addicted. Long-term studies haven’t yet been carried out and no one quite knows the mechanisms of action.

That’s not to say this supplement is going to kill you. I bought mine from a German pharmaceutical company – it’s available off the shelf in many countries – and it’s listed as having no side effects and being very safe. Ultimately it feels like caffeine x 10 with a few interesting additional quirks.

There’s certainly an interesting discussion to be had about nootropics but I’ll save that for another time.

Anyway for my full appraisal… watch the video!

Oh, and you can also see HERE some in-depth explanation as to what’s actually going on inside your brain when you use modafinil…

Than you for an insightful review. I’ve been taking Modafinil, prescribed by my doctor, for longer than I care to remember, as a treatment for depression. The side effects you describe I can easily identify with but would add another – chronic constipation!

I’m concerned about the long term effects it may have on brain chemistry and I wouldn’t ever take it with another prescription drug.

On the positive side, I’m not aware of a single instance of death attributable to it.

Hey Roger! Thanks for sharing your experiences! That’s interesting they would prescribe it for depression – I realised it had effects on mood but I’m surprised they’d pick it over another antidepressant designed specifically for that purpose! Has it helped in that regard?

Haha I didn’t experience the constipation though my bowel movements were a little irregular! Yeah I’m really curious about long-term effects. I think it could definitely be useful when used correctly but it would be wise to wait for more studies before using it as a nootropic. Obviously using it for medical purposes is a different matter!

Great summary. Towards the end That tree and electronic music made it really hard to focus on what you were saying though.
